Off The Very First Chart - 14 November 1952Pleasant greetings to you. Messrs Binnie and Sparrow would very much appreciate your attention for a special edition of Off The Chart in which they shall endeavour to examine the very first British singles chart, as published by the New Musical Express on 14th November 1952. All fifteen gramophone records which make up the top twelve will be featured, therefore it will be an hour long special running for eighty minutes.

  • Who released the first ever self-titled record album?
  • Who was the first British performer to reach number one in the US?
  • And who spent eight weeks at number two waiting to take over the number one spot?

Tune in and find out!

Listen to Off The Chart on Noisebox Radio at 10pm on Thursday 17 November 2022 and don’t forget to tweet along using the hashtag #OffTheChart. If you’re not around, you can hear the show again on Noisebox Radio at 11am on Friday, or catch up on Mixcloud after that.
